Joe Pramberger was the lead designer and VP of Manufacturing for Steinway & Sons for 29 years.  Soon after the Steinway family sold the company, Joe designed his own line of pianos, with new designs. The following are just a few of the new upgrades:

1. Asymmetrically Tapered Soundboards – This feature, developed and patented by Steinway and Sons in 1936-1937 is credited, by Steinway, as being largely responsible for their tone quality.  Their patents having expired, Joe was free to incorporate them into the Pramberger design.
2. Tunneled Bridges – Another Steinway expired patent where the underside of the bridges is cut away to allow more flexibility at the treble break.  Steinway says that this improvement radically improved their treble/bass break.  The  bridges in Pramberger pianos is virtually identical.
3. Asymmetrically Crown Soundboard – This places the crown of the soundboard directly under the curving treble bridge, where  downbearing is greatest, providing strength and optimizing tone quality.

We Do Not Currently Carry Pianos Made in China

You should be aware that the U.S. is being flooded with inexpensive pianos made in China, most with American or Germany sounding names like Wagner, Hallet & Davis, August Hoffman, Cristofori, etc.  Companies like Yamaha and Steinway are marketing some Chinese-made pianos under different brand names (Cable-Nelson and Essex). Now even Baldwin pianos are made in China! 

Although the quality of these pianos has improved somewhat over the past few years, very few are well-rated. Due to our large sales volume our prices are competitive with Chinese-made pianos, however we do not sell any new pianos that are made in China. As manufacturing and pricing of these pianos improves, we will continue to consider representing them.
